Now in a loving foster home, Sugar is thriving. She’s rediscovering joy, comfort, and the simple beauty of being cared for. But more than anything, she’s ready to find a family who will commit to loving her for life.

Lady Bird
Foster Location: Kenosha, WI
Age/Breed: 4-Year-Old Female Bloodhound

Lady Bird’s story is one of resilience and hope. This sweet 4-year-old purebred Bloodhound came to us back in June from a backyard breeding situation that had turned into a hoarding case. She was extremely pregnant and gave birth to eight beautiful puppies the very same day she arrived at her foster home. Because she was malnourished and underweight, Lady Bird needed extra time to recover and regain her strength while her puppies went on to their forever homes. Now it’s finally her turn.

Lady Bird has blossomed in foster care. She’s gained weight, learned that food will always be there for her, and embraced her inner couch potato. She’s wonderful with other dogs, though she’s fed separately to help her feel safe. She loves kids, enjoys cuddles, and will happily bounce around to play—but mostly she prefers lounging on the couch (sometimes even dozing off while sitting upright!).

She’s fully potty trained, not destructive, and doesn’t need a kennel—she simply naps when bored. Lady Bird enjoys walks but can get nervous and want to turn back after a short distance, so we’re hoping for a home with a fenced-in yard where she can safely explore and build her confidence. And, of course, she has the most adorable “bay” when she barks—a true Bloodhound trademark!

Lady Bird’s spay is scheduled (and paid for), current on all vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative. She’s going to be the best dog for someone—her foster family has even considered keeping her—but she deserves a home of her very own where she doesn’t have to share the spotlight with other rescue dogs coming and going.

This angelic girl is Nora – and she’s as close to perfect as they come. At just under 40 pounds, she’s the ideal size for both playtime and cuddles.

Nora is fully housebroken, kennel trained, and walks well on a leash (with just a little bit of pulling that can easily be corrected with training). She has a medium energy level, happily dividing her time between outdoor adventures and cozy nap spots.

She’s wonderful with other dogs, enjoys the company of children, and does fine with cats – sniffing them but generally ignoring them. She especially loves being near her person as much as possible, and finds birds absolutely fascinating. Plus, she’s got a little diva side when she wears her coat, and she’ll never turn down a good treat!

We found Nora living in a shelter with her five puppies, severely malnourished. With time, love, and care, she has blossomed into a healthy, happy girl who’s now ready for her forever family.
